The Douglas County Housing Partnership saw a need in the community to provide general household financial management counseling services. This budget and credit counseling service is intended to reach anyone who wants to evaluate their spending habits or create a workable household budget. The program provides credit and debt counseling services and to anyone who may have question about their credit report and negative credit issues. What we hope to accomplish with this new counseling program is to educate and give people a sense of control over their spending habits through one on one counseling sessions.

Credit/Debt Counseling

		Discussion and interpretation of the individuals Credit Report and Score
		Rating factors
		Ways to improve the current score
		Accurate vs. Inaccurate information
		Negative vs. Positive information
		Discussion of ways to deal with debt and/or delinquent accounts

Budget Counseling

		Analyze in detail monthly income verses fixed and variable expenses
		Help clients find ways to cut back in order to put money away for savings or repayments of debt
		Discuss ways to improve money management skills
